The jumbo Stay is located at the other end of the airport and getting there is rather easy, You need to take the bus from outside the airport and ride 2 stops, the bus will then drop you off at the bottom of the hill, and from there its about 50 yards from there.
The Jumbo Stay at Arlanda Airport near Stockholm, Sweden, is a hostel located inside a decommissioned 747-200 jetlinerAlthough this is a hostel and I never stay in hostels, I thought it would be fun to to try out something different, and since i’m a huge av-geek, I thought I cant go wrong….. and boy was I right….
The isle of the plane is divided right down the middle, (see last picture) with toilets and showers at the rear end of the aircraft and 1 in disabled bathroom at the front right by the entrance.
My room had 4 beds in it (2 bunk beds) and all 3 were already taken, so I thought i’ll ask the guy working at the front desk if there’s any rooms that are empty
To my surprise he said that they are fully booked….. but it was actually rasher nice to see so many av geeks wanting to sleep in a plane hostel.
As the rooms are quite small there is no place really to store the luggage, so instead they have a small area on the plane (by the exit row if you will) and you put in there and they lock it up, and in the morning they open it up for you
I had to charge my phone, but all the sockets in my room were already taken, so the guy at the front desk once again was kind enough to charge my phone over night at the counter,By the time I had arrived it was getting late, and I also had an early morning flight back to London, so I kindly asked the guy in charge if he doesn’t mind waking me up early to make sure that I catch my flight, and even that he did gladly I must say how surprise I was of the level of service in this place, I felt like I was staying in 5 star hotel.
As you walk in there’s coffee and snacks for the guests but obviously no restaurants in here but it was just fine as I was heading to bed anyways.
Over all I must say that I had an amazing experience, and might even book myself another night in the queen of the skies….. but this time i’ll aim for the cockpit…..
Have you ever stayed at the Jumbo Stay?
What are your thoughts on it?
