Hotel review: Andaz on the Palm, Dubai

by Palty Marmorstein November 21, 2020
by Palty Marmorstein November 21, 2020 2 comments

Location:

The Andaz is a new hotel located on the trunk of Jumeirah Palm in Dubai, UAE. It is also part of the Hyatt group. This hotel is situated opposite the Nakheel Mall, and is a 15-30 minutes taxi ride away from the top attractions (such as the Dubai Mall, Burj Khalifa, Jumeirah Beach) and city centre.

Booking:

I booked this hotel via Spencer Howard from Straighttothepoints, who provided me with a great deal. Benefits of this deal included:

  • $100 hotel credit to be spent on anything within the hotel
  • Book 2 nights and get the 3rd night free
  • Free breakfast for 2 every morning
  • Access to the private beach and hotel’s rooftop Cabana pool
  • Early check in and late check out
  • Room upgrade upon arrival
  • Collect Hyatt points and Elite nights credit

Check in/the lobby:

We were kindly greeted by staff upon arrival, and all guests were subjected to temperature checks when entering the lobby. The staff were well equipped with Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) and hand sanitisers. Check in was smooth and we received a great room upgrade. I initially booked the Sea View room, and got upgraded to the King Bed Balcony.

The lobby had a great relaxed feel to it, and decor was luxurious and contemporary with colourful modern Arabian influences running through it.

The Room:

The room was stunning. It was colourful, stylish and spacious. The room had floor to ceiling windows and the decor was well thought out as every piece of furniture and artwork complimented each other, and added a fun personality to the room. The marble bathroom had a deep soaking tub, rain shower and eco-friendly shower amenities. The bed was also comfortable. What is even greater is that the room came with not just one, but two balconies! One balcony was facing the beach, so it was a great spot just to hang out during the day, but also enjoy the sunrise and sunset views over the beach from the comfort of your own room.

The Service:

I thought the service was great. I always felt welcomed and looked after by the staff whilst entering and exiting the hotel. There was always a taxi ready for use outside the hotel by the guests, so I never had trouble locating one.  The staff were knowledgeable and gave me good spots to visit during my time in Dubai.  Room service was also 24/7 and any requests I made were dealt with efficiently.  Unlike many other hotels, there was also an evening turn down service. One thing I was not entirely fond of were the constant temperature checks whenever entering and exiting the hotel, even if I was outside of the hotel for a few minutes. However, I do understand that this was to keep the guests and staff safe, and it is better to be safe than sorry!

Food:

The hotel has a couple of restaurants and lounges such as ‘The Locale’ that served international cuisine, and was open for breakfast and dinner every day. The restaurant also has a wonderful alfresco terrace facing towards the private beach. I really enjoyed the breakfast as there was a great selection to choose from, with good service from the staff. I also visited the KnoX on a night out, which was a really cool underground lounge located right opposite the hotel. It was eccentric, eclectic with a great techno vibe to it!

In room dining was also delicious, especially the chicken curry which tasted so authentic and full of flavour. They also offer a great club sandwich!

Conclusion:

Overall, I had a fantastic stay with The Andaz, they really knew how to look after their guests. Even though the hotel was smaller than other hotels in Dubai (such as the Fairmont) I loved the modern and colourful feel of the hotel, and offered good food. My one qualm would be the actual location of the hotel… it is situated on the Palm, which means it was quite far away from all the top attractions of Dubai. However with that being said, it was only a 15-30 minutes drive away from the hotspots so overall it was not too bad. Would definitely recommend a stay!

Have you ever stayed at The Andaz on the Palm in Dubai?

My name is Palty Marmorstein and I am just a normal (well, I hope so) guy holding down a regular job, but in my spare time I am an avid plane spotter and obsessed with all things aviation, such as keeping up with my favourite aircrafts to identifying which airline is offering amazing deals. This love for flying developed when I was just 10 years old, taking my first flight to New York City.
