If you love an aviation shake-up, summer 2025 delivers a mixed bag of route launches, aircraft swaps, and a couple of farewells. From turboprop replacing jets to new seaside escapes and unexpected goodbyes, here’s what’s changing in UK skies.

BA swaps jets for turboprop on Glasgow-Gatwick Route.

British Airways’ daily flights between London Gatwick (LGW) and Glasgow (GLA) are getting a propeller-powered revamp from 30 March 2025. Instead of the usual Airbus A320s, Emerald Airlines’ ATR 72 turboprop aircraft will now operate the route.

Yes, a turboprop on a major UK domestic route. It’s slower, smaller, and noisier, but on the plus side, ATRs are more fuel-efficient and add a bit of character to the usual jet-powered commute.

New Flight Schedule.

Glasgow to Gatwick (BA1481)

  • Mon, Fri – Sun: Departs 07:00, arrives 09:10
  • Tue – Thu: Departs 07:15, arrives 09:25

Gatwick to Glasgow (BA1480)

  • Tue: Departs 10:15, arrives 12:25
  • Thu: Departs 10:25, arrives 12:35
  • Mon, Wed, Fri – Sun: Departs 11:10, arrives 13:20

For now, these flights aren’t on sale, so if you’re interested in testing out BA’s turboprop era, check the booking pages.

easyJet Adds Brest, Drops Paris Routes.

Paris might be the city of love, but easyJet isn’t feeling the romance. As of 29 March 2025, easyJet is axing flights from Bristol and Manchester to Paris Orly (ORY). No word yet on replacements, but it’s a blow for regional travellers looking for an alternative to Charles de Gaulle.

However, if you’re looking for a French escape with a seaside twist, easyJet is launching a new summer route from London Gatwick (LGW) to Brest (BES) in Brittany from 25 June 2025.

New Flight Schedule.

London Gatwick to Brest (EZY8467)

  • Wed: Departs 07:00, arrives 09:20
  • Sun: Departs 19:20, arrives 21:40

Brest to London Gatwick (EZY8468)

  • Wed: Departs 10:05, arrives 10:15
  • Sun: Departs 22:10, arrives 22:25

If you fancy crêpes, coastal hikes, and a whole lot of Breton charm, this is your chance.

Royal Air Maroc Adds Stansted to Casablanca.

Londoners wanting to swap grey skies for Moroccan sunshine now have another option. Royal Air Maroc (RAM) is launching flights from London Stansted (STN) to Casablanca (CMN) starting 24 June 2025.

This adds to RAM’s existing services from Heathrow and Gatwick, offering more flexibility for North African getaways.

New Flight Schedule.

Casablanca to London Stansted (AT808)

  • Tue, Fri, Sun: Departs 03:00, arrives 06:20

London Stansted to Casablanca (AT809)

  • Tue, Fri, Sun: Departs 07:45, arrives 10:45

It’s perfect for early birds and bargain hunters but not great if you’re allergic to a 3 a.m. airport wake-up call.

Final Thoughts.

2025 is shaping up to be a year of change for UK flyers. Whether it’s prop-powered BA flights, Paris route cuts, or new summer escapes to Brest and Casablanca, there’s plenty to keep an eye on.

Which of these turboprop routes or farewell changes excites (or annoys) you the most? Let us know in the comments!
