It’s raining African routes at Gatwick! Hot on the heels of Uganda Airlines shiny new Entebbe–LGW service, Kenya Airways has decided to join the party with a new thrice-weekly hop from Nairobi to London Gatwick. Yep, forget Heathrow – Gatwick’s getting the East African glow-up.

The details (because we know you’re already planning your next trip):

Kenya Airways will roll out its baby Dreamliner, the Boeing 787-8, for the route. She’s cute, efficient, and packs in:

  • 30 Business Class seats (lie-flat, darling)
  • 204 Economy seats (bring snacks, maybe)

Flight schedule? A little quirky, but bear with us:

KQ108 – Nairobi (NBO) to London Gatwick (LGW)

  • Wednesdays: 23:45 → 06:55
  • Fridays & Sundays: 23:40 → 06:50 (Yes, five minutes earlier for reasons)

KQ109 – London Gatwick (LGW) to Nairobi (NBO)

  • Mondays: 12:10 → 23:05
  • Thursdays: 11:00 → 21:55
  • Saturdays: 12:25 → 23:20

Honestly, the departure times are giving spreadsheet chaos, but if you like to keep things fresh, you’ll love it.

So why Gatwick?

Kenya Airways big boss, Allan Kilavuka, called the new route “just the beginning” of their UK charm offensive. He says it’s all about boosting trade and tourism and making life easier for the Kenyan diaspora who want to return home without fighting Heathrow’s chaos. Fair enough.

But wait – there’s a SkyTeam twist.

Since KQ’s a proud member of the SkyTeam gang, you can actually earn Virgin Atlantic tier points on this route, too. Think of it as a cheeky hack to edge closer to that Gold status:

  • Economy Class: 25 tier points
  • Business Class: 75 tier points

So whether you’re off to Nairobi for safari, sun, or a sizzling Rolex (the food, not the watch), there’s now another stylish way to get there, Kenya Airways via London Gatwick, naturally. Click here to find out more about it!
