British Airways is going full Nippon this summer, cranking up its Tokyo Haneda service to two daily flights from London Heathrow starting 30 March 2025. That’s a full 14 round trips a week – because apparently, once a day just wasn’t cutting it.

Winter saw a modest 10 weekly round trips, but with 1.4 million people Googling the route in the past year (we see you, Sakura-chasers), BA figured it was time to give the people what they want: more Club Suites, more mochi, more mileage runs.

Aircraft Geekery Corner:

  • BA7/8 gets the snazzy Airbus A350-1000, featuring BA’s flagship Club Suite with doors, storage, and that “I paid for business class, and I want everyone to know” energy.
  • BA5/6 runs on the Boeing 787-9, which still packs a comfy four-class layout but lacks the extra sass of the A350.

Here’s the current rundown of departure times:

Flight Route Departure Arrival
BA7 LHR → HND 09:20 07:00+1
BA5 LHR → HND 13:10 10:55+1
BA8 HND → LHR 08:50 15:40
BA6 HND → LHR 13:05 19:55

Tourism stats to impress your mates:

According to VisitBritain, 393,000 Japanese visitors are expected to visit the UK in 2025, up 16% from 2024. Even better? They’re projected to spend £445 million on the economy, a 34% spike. Arigatou gozaimasu, indeed.

A little help from our friends at JAL:

British Airways codeshare bromance with Japan Airlines (JAL) continues to flourish, giving travellers 28 weekly flights between Heathrow and Haneda. That includes:

  • JAL’s gorgeous A350-1000 in full four-class regalia
  • And the trusty B787-8 for those who prefer their Dreamliners a little more humble.

From the C-suite:

Neil Chernoff, BA’s Chief Strategy Officer (aka Head of Making Stuff Happen), had this to say:

We are delighted to resume operating two daily flights on the London–Tokyo route… [it] demonstrates our commitment to providing unparalleled comfort and connectivity.

Translation: “We see those search numbers, and we’re cashing in – in style.”

Want to fly this summer with British Airways to Tokyo Haneda? Book early. The A350 Club Suite cabin sells out faster than matcha lattes in Shoreditch.
