Marriott Bonvoy and American Express have just done something rare. They tripled the sign-up bonus on the Marriott Bonvoy American Express Credit Card – and yes, it’s as juicy as it sounds. We’re talking 60,000 Bonvoy points, up from the usual 20,000. That’s the highest offer we’ve seen on this card. All you have to do is spend £3,000 in your first 3 monthsReview: Marriott Bonvoy American Express Credit Card.

Deadline? Apply by 15 July 2025.

What Can 60,000 Bonvoy Points Get You?

  • £300+ worth of hotel stays if you value points at 0.5p (and savvy redemptions can stretch that even further).
  • 25,000 Avios or airline miles when you convert 60,000 Bonvoy points (thanks to the 5,000 bonus miles Marriott throws in when transferring in 60k chunks).
  • A fancy-free night at a 40,000-point Marriott hotel if you top up the included voucher (more on that below).

You can earn miles with over 40 airlines – and for some, like Emirates, Etihad, or United, this card is one of the only ways to rack up UK-based miles.

Do You Qualify for the Bonus?

You’re in the clear if:

  • You haven’t held a personal Amex card in the last 24 months
  • You currently (or recently) had a business Amex or a supplementary card on someone else’s account

Day-to-Day Earning Rates

  • 2 Bonvoy points per £1 spent on everything
  • 6 Bonvoy points per £1 at Marriott Bonvoy hotels (that’s before your elite bonuses kick in)
  • That’s roughly a 1% return, sometimes more with clever redemptions

There’s a 2.99% FX fee, so avoid this option if you’re abroad. Instead, take out the Hilton Honors Debit Card.

Extra Card Perks Worth Knowing

15 Elite Night Credits – Every. Single. Year.

Get a 15-night head start toward elite status. Here’s what that unlocks:

Status Needed Nights Needed with Card
Silver Elite 10 ✅ Automatic
Gold Elite 25 10 more nights
Platinum Elite 50 35 more nights
Titanium Elite 75 60 more nights

Silver Elite is included for free. It’s not exactly VIP treatment, but it might spare you from getting the room above the bins.

Gold Elite is doable if you:

  • Stay 10 nights OR
  • Spend £15,000 on the card per year

Platinum Elite is the real prize:

  • Complimentary breakfast or welcome gift (depends on brand)
  • Lounge access (except Ritz-Carlton)
  • Suite upgrades (if available)
  • 4pm late checkout (guaranteed unless it’s a resort or convention hotel)

If you can hit 35 nights a year, this card becomes your shortcut to elite status.

Oh – and elite nights from this card count toward lifetime status, too.

Spend-Based Perks

  • Spend £15,000/year = automatic Gold Elite
  • Spend £25,000/year = free night voucher worth up to 25,000 points

That free night sounds better than it is – many aspirational properties now go for 70k–150k per night. But Marriott lets you top it up with 15k points, so you can stretch the voucher to stay somewhere worth up to 40,000 points (~£200).

Strategy Corner

  • This card is a top pick for Marriott loyalists, even if you don’t meet the bonus qualification.
  • Even without the sign-up perk, the 15 elite nights alone can justify the £95 annual fee if you’re chasing Platinum.
  • Great way to earn airline miles for those in programs without UK cards (like Emirates Skywards, Etihad Guest, or Air Canada Aeroplan).
  • Share the love – Bonvoy lets you transfer up to 100,000 points a year to another member for free. Family points pooling? Game on.

Final Approach

Until 15 July 2025, the Marriott Bonvoy Amex is serving a full-course bonus:

  • ➡️ 60,000 points after spending £3,000
  • ➡️ Silver Elite status for life (as long as you hold the card)
  • ➡️ Fast-track to Platinum Elite with 15 bonus nights a year
  • ➡️ Conversion potential to 25,000 Avios or airline miles

For £95 a year, this card is doing the most – especially if you play your elite nights and transfers right.

In short, it’s a perfect re-entry point for anyone who’s been on an Amex hiatus. And yes, this won’t block you from getting future bonuses on the BA Premium Plus Amex or Amex Platinum.
