American Express is handing out a tidy bonus to selected cardholders: 10 Avios per £1 spent on Heathrow Express, valid for up to £100 of spend. That’s up to 1,000 Avios just for taking the fast train to the airport. The offer runs until 31 July 2025 and shows up in the offers section of your Amex app if you’re lucky enough to be targeted.
No need to jump through hoops or book via Avios.com. Just pay with your American Express, hop on board, and the Avios will usually land in your account within 30 days, although don’t hold your breath. Once they appear on your Amex statement, they’ll be transferred to your British Airways Executive Club account on your usual sweep date.

Trains run every 15 minutes between London Paddington and Heathrow. The journey takes 15 minutes flat, so if you’re cutting it fine (again), this is still the most efficient panic option. There’s Wi-Fi, charging ports at every seat, and enough luggage space for even the most overpacked flyer.

Ordinarily, booking Heathrow Express via Avios.com gets you just 5 Avios per £1 and only if you pay full whack for an adult ticket. Advance fares, discounted rates, and duo deals don’t count, and nothing is earned if you forget to book via the right portal.
This Amex offer sidesteps all that. You get 10 Avios per £1 regardless of ticket type, so it works even if you’re grabbing a saver fare or booking on the fly.
Yes, Heathrow Rewards is another option (earning 1 point per £1, which converts 1:1 to Avios), but compared to this Amex deal, it’s not even in the same departure lounge.
