Ever fancied turning your grocery run into a hotel stay or flipping your Bonvoy stash into a cheeky Argos haul? Well, here’s the scoop: Marriott Bonvoy and Nectar have officially launched a two-way points transfer partnership, and yes, there’s a sign-up bonus involved.
This marks Nectar’s first proper hotel loyalty partnership, and Marriott’s first move into everyday earn territory in the UK. Whether you’re a Sainsbury’s regular or someone eyeing that Bonvoy elite tier, this one’s worth a look.

The Headline Bonus: 1,500 Nectar Points for Just Living Your Life
You can now earn up to 1,500 Nectar points per year just for completing three Marriott Bonvoy cash stays. No complex routing, no elite status, just book, sleep, and let the points roll in.
Here’s the fine print (served without the usual sleep-inducing legal speak):
- That’s 500 Nectar points per stay, max three times a year.
- Only cash bookings count; redemption nights won’t cut it.
- Your Bonvoy and Nectar accounts need to be linked at least 24 hours before booking.
- The offer resets every year on 17 July, so your stay window is from 17 July 2025 to 16 July 2026.
- Points drop into your Nectar account within seven days of checkout.
Not that into Nectar? No worries. You can flip those 1,500 Nectar points right back into 750 Marriott Bonvoy points.
New to Marriott Bonvoy? Get 500 Nectar Points Just for Signing Up
If you’re a Marriott Bonvoy rookie, Nectar’s throwing 500 points your way for joining the party, no hotel stay needed. Just sign up via the Nectar site, and your accounts will auto-link.
That’s 500 Nectar points for doing essentially nothing. And yes, you can also reverse them into 250 Bonvoy points later if you’re chasing a redemption. Review: Nectar American Express Credit Card.

Transfer Rates: Not Exactly 1:1, But Still Worth It
Here’s how the numbers shake out:
Transfer Direction | Rate |
---|---|
2 Bonvoy → 1 Nectar | 🔁 |
2 Nectar → 1 Bonvoy | 🔁 |
So yes, you’ll lose a bit of value when transferring back and forth. Moral of the story: commit before you convert. Review: Marriott Bonvoy American Express Credit Card.
Minimum transfer is 500 points in either direction, and in chunks of 100 after that. Transfers take up to 48 hours and can only be set up once, so double-check that your name, email, and address match on both accounts before you link.
Oh, and in case you’re wondering:
- You can still link Nectar to Avios alongside Marriott Bonvoy.
- Daily cap is 10 manual conversions per day on the Nectar side, up to 100,000 points.
- Marriott lets you transfer up to 50,000 Bonvoy points per day into Nectar.
But What Can You Actually Do With Nectar Points?
In case you’ve been sleeping on them:
- Spend them at Sainsbury’s, Argos, eBay, or Esso.
- Transfer them to Avios.
- Or hoard them for Black Friday like the savvy shopper you are.
Should You Bother?
Even if you don’t plan on transferring a single point, it’s a no-brainer to link your accounts:
- You’ll snag up to 1,500 Nectar points a year for hotel stays you might’ve booked anyway.
- That’s 750 Marriott points if you bounce them back.
- And 500 Nectar points if you’re new to Marriott Bonvoy.
Worst case? Free points. Best case? A cheeky upgrade, an Avios top-up, or a few quid off your weekly shop.
