The Hilton Honors Status Match – How to Go from Gold to Diamond in 90 Days
💎 Step 1: Hilton gives you instant Hilton Gold status for 90 days. That means complimentary breakfast (or a food and beverage credit if you’re in the US), room upgrades, and all the other Gold perks.
🏨 Step 2: Stay 8 nights in 90 days and keep Gold status until March 2027.
✈️ Step 3: Stay 14 nights in 90 days, and congratulations—you’re Hilton Diamond until March 2027. That means guaranteed lounge access, a better shot at upgrades, and a general sense of superiority over mere Gold members.
How to Get Your Hilton Honors Status Match.
Hilton matches your status with hotel loyalty programmes, including Marriott Bonvoy, IHG One Rewards, World of Hyatt, Choice Privileges, and Best Western Rewards. You’ll need at least a mid-tier status, but Hilton has the final say on what qualifies for each programme. There’s also an ‘Other’ box in the drop-down menu, which might be worth a shot if you have elite status elsewhere.
You’ll need proof of your current status and a recent stay with that programme to apply. So, if you got Marriott Bonvoy Gold from your Amex Platinum, you’ll still need to prove that you’ve stayed at a Marriott recently. You can’t use this match if you’re already Hilton Gold or Diamond—it’s strictly for Silver or base members looking to upgrade their game.

Is a Hilton Status Match Worth It?
Potentially, yes. Hilton Gold is among the best mid-tier statuses because it has a complimentary breakfast. In the US, Hilton replaces this with a food and beverage credit, which is nice in theory but often fails to cover the cost of an actual breakfast. Hilton Diamond is even better, mainly because it guarantees lounge access where available, meaning free drinks, snacks, and an occasional escape from the chaos of the leading hotel areas.
When Should You Apply?
Timing is everything. Once Hilton approves your match, you get 90 days of Gold status, so you don’t want to waste it by applying too early. If you don’t have at least 8 nights lined up in the next three months, hold off until you do. Hilton has been running this match for years, so there’s no major rush.

How to get Hilton diamond status with just one credit card. F&B credit is great but other than that it’s fairly worthless in the states. No guaranteed late checkout, no confirmed suites at booking, hotels playing games with upgrades. Borderline not worth it in the states. I’ve been upgraded to suites more often with Amex fhr at the same Hilton than I have with diamond status.
