Avios is back with a Nectar conversion bonus, and if your stash of supermarket points is gathering dust, this could be the perfect moment to swap groceries for getaways.

Let’s dive into what’s on offer and whether it’s worth your Nectar.

The Basics

Normally, Nectar points convert to Avios at a fixed 400:250 ratio. That’s never changed, even though the reverse side (Avios into Nectar) has been devalued twice.

  • 400 Nectar Points = £2 in Sainsbury’s, Argos, etc.
  • Or 400 Nectar Points = 250 Avios.

Do the maths and you’re effectively “buying” Avios for 0.8p each, which isn’t half bad.

Now add a bonus into the mix…

The Bonus Offer

Until 30th September 2025, you’ll get:

  • 10% bonus on manual conversions
  • 20% bonus on auto-conversions

So, for every 400 Nectar Points you shift across:

  • Manual: 275 Avios (0.73p per Avios)
  • Auto: 300 Avios (0.67p per Avios)

That’s a strong return, better than your trolley full of pasta sauces.

Should You Auto-Convert?

If you’re shifting a big balance, yes. Auto-convert gets you the full 20%. And if you don’t want to keep feeding Avios every quarter, you can always disable it later. Think of it as gaming the system, with no long-term commitment.

The Fine Print

Not much to trip over here:

  • Offer runs to 30th September
  • Transfers must be in multiples of 400
  • Bonus will likely land in arrears (based on past promos)
  • Monthly manual transfer cap: 80,000 Nectar Points
  • Quarterly auto-convert cap: 40,000 Nectar Points

If you’re already on auto-convert, you’ll get the 20% bonus automatically, no tinkering needed.

Linking Nectar & Avios

If you haven’t done it yet, linking your BA Executive Club and Nectar accounts is quick via avios.com. Once linked, transfers are seamless.

Worth It?

Absolutely, if you see yourself flying, at 0.67p per Avios, you’re getting a better-than-usual rate. It’s not the most generous bonus we’ve ever seen, but it’s still a solid move if your Nectar balance is burning a hole in your digital wallet.

If, on the other hand, you’re saving Nectar for your weekly shop, stick with the £2 value. No shame in that, but let’s be honest, flights to New York are a little more exciting than a basket of frozen peas.

WingTips Verdict: Auto-convert for 20% if you’ve got a healthy Nectar balance and travel plans on the horizon. Otherwise, keep calm and carry on collecting.
