Qatar Airways has decided that seven daily flights to London Heathrow simply aren’t enough, so now they’re making it eight. Because, you know, one can never have too many flights between Doha and London.

As it stands, Qatar Airways already dominates UK airspace, with a whopping 49 weekly flights to Heathrow. But that’s just not extra enough. Starting soon, they’ll be bumping that up to 56 weekly flights. Here’s the flight lineup:

  • QR1 – Daily, Boeing 777-300 (sometimes an Airbus A350 if they feel like it)
  • QR3 – Daily, Airbus A380 (because what’s Heathrow without an A380?)
  • QR5 – Daily, Boeing 777-300
  • QR7 – Daily, Boeing 777-300
  • QR11 – Daily, Airbus A380 (double-decker luxury, anyone?)
  • QR15 – Daily, Boeing 777-300
  • QR105 – Four times a week, Airbus A350 or Boeing 777-300
  • QR107 – Three times a week (Friday, Saturday, Sunday), Airbus A380, A350, or Boeing 777-300 (whatever they have handy)
  • QR109 – Daily, Boeing 777-300 or Airbus A350

Qatar Airways will add more flights to London Heathrow

But here’s the real question: why?

British Airways is already in the game, flying daily to Doha. Plus, QR105 and QR107 aren’t even running daily yet, so why not just, I don’t know, fill those first? Then again, more flights mean more capacity, which means more Avios collectors scrambling for redemptions.

And let’s not forget, this is just Heathrow. Qatar Airways also hits up Gatwick, while Emirates floods Heathrow with six daily flights from Dubai, and Etihad throws in four daily flights from Abu Dhabi, all competing for Middle Eastern dominance in London.

And that’s before we even start counting Gatwick, Stansted, and all the other airlines like British Airways and Royal Brunei that are also in the mix.

In short, the Gulf carriers treat Heathrow like a second home, and Qatar Airways just pulled up with another suitcase.

More flights, more choices, more chances to sip a Qsuite cappuccino at 38,000 feet. We’ll take it.
