Traveling around but want to stay connected? Try Saily!

As y’all know, Emirates is no stranger to the aviation industry and certainly doesn’t need a big introduction. However, if you’ve been living under a rock, I will add this here so you can know! Emirates is a Middle Eastern airline based out of DXB Dubai Airport. There I said it! So today, I want to look at their fleet in more detail as the airline changes significantly. Welcoming their latest aircraft, the Emirates A350-900, into their family.

Emirates current fleet.

Emirates currently has around 267 aircraft in their fleet, which is as follows.

  • 122 Boeing 777’s
  • 21 Boeing 77L (11 of which are cargo aircraft)
  • 121 Airbus A380 (Emirates is the largest A380 operator in the world)
  • 3 Airbus A350-900 (out of 65 ordered)

As you can see from the above, Emirates has primarily focused on two aircraft types: the Airbus A380 and the Boeing 777; however, this has slowly changed since the airline ordered the Airbus A350-900 back in 2019, and all of these jets should be delivered by 2028.

Emirates has 65 A350 on order.

One key thing to note about the new A350-900 that the airline is taking on is that it won’t feature a first-class cabin; instead, it will introduce a new business-class cabin.

Emirates CEO Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum said this when they placed the A50-900 order from Airbus!

“The A350-900s will add to our fleet mix, and we are pleased to announce additional orders for this aircraft type. We plan to deploy our A350s to serve a range of new markets including long-haul missions of up to 15 hours flying time from Dubai. We will work closely with Airbus and Rolls-Royce to ensure our aircraft deliver the best possible operating efficiency and flying experience for our customers. Emirates orders this week are all carefully planned to support our future growth and the Dubai economic vision set out by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. The Emirates experience is often the first visitor experience of Dubai – and we want it to be the best.”

Emirates Future Fleet.

For what it is worth, Emirates in the future will look a bit different, too, as they currently have the following aircraft on order,

Emirates A350 wont feature first class.
  • 20 X Boeing 787-8
  • 15 Boeing 787-10
  • 35 Boeing 777-8
  • 170 Boeing 777-9
  • 14 Boeing 777F

However, we have no date when these Boeing 777-8 and the 777-9 jets will be delivered, as Boeing has experienced significant delays in getting the new B777 series certified.

Conclusion.

The A350 is hands down my favourite aircraft to fly on, and I cannot wait to fly Emirates brand new, out-of-the-box A350. I love seeing airlines place new orders and modernise their fleet. Emirates is thinking of a better long-term solution as the A380 is no longer in production, and sooner or later, they will have to retire it, so it’s good to see in which direction the airline is heading.
