You can now prebook Freenow in London. Last week I happened to get into a black taxi cab outside of London Liverpool Street, which is wired because I hardly ever use them, after all, I have my own car, when I spotted something quite interesting, on the window panel there was a small sign stating that you can now pre-order black cabs to the airport so I thought ill dig a bit deeper and here’s what I’ve found out:

If you Live in London, you’re probably aware by now that if you have the Freenow app on your phone, you can use it for the London Black Cabs. The taxi booking app, jointly owned by Mercedes Benz and BMW, has launched an interesting offer dubbed the “Airport Prebook Promise.”

The first thing to know is that it’s only valid on trips to the airport.

The “Airport Prebook Promise” covers prebooked cab rides (either black cabs or Uber-style rides) booked via the FREE NOW app to the following airports:

The ‘promise’ will pay you £60, in the form of 2 x £30 FREENOW vouchers valid for one month, in the following circumstances:

  • your taxi has not arrived within five minutes of the agreed pick-up time, and you cancel the booking
  • your taxi arrives more than 10 minutes late (compensation is reduced to 2 x £15 vouchers in this scenario)
  • no cab can be found to accept your pre-booked ride before the pick-up time
  • the assigned driver cancels your ride before the pick-up time
  • the booking is cancelled for technical reasons at FREENOW

I should mention however, that you only get paid when:

The user has selected one of the Relevant Airports from the list under the ‘airports’ tab under the drop-off box (denoted by an airplane symbol). Destinations typed into the drop-off box will not qualify.

Although I’m not sure you can only why Freenow only launched prebook service TO the London airport’s only and not in both directions, my guess is that since this is a trial run, perhaps they will offer this service in both directions in the future.
