I recently took an unplanned trip to Cancun, Mexico. I initially planned to do the SAS million-mile challenge; however, my plans fell through for reasons I’m unwilling to discuss here. However, I had already booked one of my flights, so I decided to go to Cancun for a few days because if life gives you lemons, I thought I might as well….

Booking.

Arrival at Cancun Airport.

I woke up one morning to find what I can only describe as a glitch fare. I booked the following using Google flights: LHR-JFK-MEX-CUN, all in business class, for just £760.00 without using any points whatsoever. Virgin Atlantic operated the first segment of this trip, and Aeromexico operated the remaining 2 flights.

Since I’ve flown into JFK, I could only use the Delta Lounge. Although I didn’t have much time to review this lounge, I liked it. This may be a new lounge, although I’m unfamiliar with whether that is true. However, it was a lovely and enjoyable experience. I’d love to hear your thoughts on this lounge, and I hope to be back soon to review it.

Aeromexico 737 MAX 8 business class cabin.

The cabin in there is beautiful. Let me explain why I was so impressed; I live in London, and at best, we get an empty seat next to you in a short-haul BA aircraft. I mean, let’s face it, it kinda sucks; there’s nothing noteworthy about that experience, true, that pre-flight you will get lounge access and get extra language; however, once you’re on the plane, there’s not much differentiating between an economy class seat and a business class seat.

Configured in a 2-2 configuration, everyone gets a TV, a recliner seat, and a decent meal.

Aeromexico Economy Class.

I loved seeing this volcano.

What impressed me the most was the economy-class seat on this plane. On the way back from CUN to MEX, I flew in economy. Even there, everyone had their own screen and a very comfortable seat. Although I’m unsure about the legroom since I sat in the first economy row, I had plenty.

Conclusion.

There’s something to be said about Aeromexico’s amazing 737 MAX 8 aircraft, whether you’re in business or economy class. They sure put in a lot of thought from a passenger’s point of view. I wish BA would do the same here in the UK, but that’s wishful thinking, I know. Instead, we’re busy here with ETA forms and never-ending third runway drama, but it’s awesome to think about what if!
