Traveling around but want to stay connected? Try Saily!
I recently took an unplanned trip to Cancun, Mexico. I initially planned to do the SAS million-mile challenge; however, my plans fell through for reasons I’m unwilling to discuss here. However, I had already booked one of my flights, so I decided to go to Cancun for a few days because if life gives you lemons, I thought I might as well….

Booking.

I woke up one morning to find what I can only describe as a glitch fare. I booked the following using Google flights: LHR-JFK-MEX-CUN, all in business class, for just £760.00 without using any points whatsoever. Virgin Atlantic operated the first segment of this trip, and Aeromexico operated the remaining 2 flights.
Lounge.

Since I’ve flown into JFK, I could only use the Delta Lounge. Although I didn’t have much time to review this lounge, I liked it. This may be a new lounge, although I’m unfamiliar with whether that is true. However, it was a lovely and enjoyable experience. I’d love to hear your thoughts on this lounge, and I hope to be back soon to review it.
Aeromexico business class cabin.
Aeromexico’s 787-9s feature the Collins Aerospace Super Diamond business class seats in a 1-2-1 configuration. Nothing about this airplane or this experience screams luxury—far from it. It is actually quite the opposite.

But on the other hand Aeromexico offers many cheap fares out of MEX airport, so in all fairness, if you ever want to visit Mexico, finding a cheap business-class ticket to or from Mexico shouldn’t cost you too much.

Aeromexico business class food.

The food on this trip was definitely the highlight. It’s not often that I enjoy airline food, but this was definitely up there with the good ones; you can also read my full review of the Kosher airline food industry I recently interviewed.

Conclusion.
Having flown Aeromexico for the first time, for the price I paid, it was definitely well worth the money. True, it’s not the most luxurious airline out there. However, I had a great experience overall, and I’d fly them again. Although having said that, flying with Aeromexico on the Boeing 787-8 would give you the worst experience since they have the business class seats in a 2-2-2 configuration; luckily, that wasn’t the case for me here.
